Hana Hou Music Program at Maui Coffee Attic

The Hana Hou Music Program is excited to kick off our series of public concerts during our 2026 Summer Session as we always do with a performance at Maui Coffee Attic! Enjoy some delicious coffee and pastries at Maui Coffee Attic with Hana Hou Music Program’s Teaching Artists for a morning of chamber music, featuring works from the classical canon, popular music, and some Hawaiian tunes. This concert is free to attend, with donations greatly appreciated.
Family Concert at Hāna Farms

The Hana Hou Music Program looks forward to returning to Hāna this summer to perform at Hāna Farm’s Bamboo Hale Restaurant. Enjoy farm pizzas and harvest salads comprising farm-raised meat and Maui-grown produce while enjoying live music from the classical canon, popular music, and Hawaiian tunes performed by our Teaching Artists. During an interactive set, the audience will get to participate in the music making process so get ready to sing, dance and learn about the music we perform.
Side-by-Side Concert
Where: King Kekaulike Performing Arts Center, 121 Kula Hwy, Makawao, HI 96768

Hana Hou Music Program shares the stage with students we’ve had the chance to work with throughout our Summer Session! The first half will feature the Hana Hou Music Program’s Teaching Artists, and after intermission, they’ll be seated side-by-side with students from across Maui, performing works by Piazzolla, Danish String Quartet, and Queen Lili‘uokalani. Join us in the beautiful Performing Arts Center at King Kekaulike High School for this special evening. This concert is free to attend, with donations greatly appreciated.
Koa String Quartet Recital
Where: Wailuku Union Church, 327 S High St, Wailuku, HI 96793
When: Tuesday, September 1st | 6:30 PM

The Koa String Quartet, Hana Hou Music Program’s Quartet-in-Residence, presents a full recital at the historic Wailuku Union Church. The string quartet is an ensemble that has the ability to create unique sound worlds full of texture and color. The program you will hear will span from the year 1797, with Haydn's humor, to a fusion of folk and rock in Gabriella Smith's Carrot Revolution, written in 2015. Get ready to explore the world of the string quartet!
Formed in 2023, the Koa String Quartet is made up of violinists Kisa Uradomo and Daniel Yu, violist Leo Matsuoka, and cellist Heewon Lee. Koa recently completed the Graduate String Quartet Residency at the University of Colorado Boulder where they studied with the Takács String Quartet and were the first prize winners of the 2024 Ekstrand Competition.
This concert is free to attend, with donations greatly appreciated.
Classical Music and Chocolate by Sunset

Cost: $30, 21+ only
Join us for an evening of live classical chamber music, featuring the Koa String Quartet, oboist Ryan Hirokawa, and cellist Priscilla Kim.
Take in ocean views, sip handcrafted cocktails (including signature chocolate cocktails), and enjoy chocolate thoughtfully paired with wine and spirits. Light savory bites will be available throughout the evening.
100% of net ticket proceeds benefit the Hana Hou Music Program. 21+ only

Summer Session Finale
“To Be Heard Is To Be Seen”

Join us at Seabury Hall’s ‘A‘ali‘ikūhonua Creative Arts Center in Makawao for the musical celebration of our Summer Session: a Finale Concert, titled “To Be Heard Is To Be Seen.” Since our first season, we have seen how music can connect us all even if there are no words exchanged. The music we choose to perform has been picked by the values we feel we see in the community of Maui. Compassion, resilience, and a multitude of cultures come together to create it. We hope that the music you hear us play resonates with you and you can hear our love for this community through our music.
