Daniel Yu
Violinist
Hailing from Chapel Hill, NC, violinist Daniel Yu is currently based in Denver and spends his time performing and teaching across the Front Range. Since moving to the area in 2025, he has performed with the Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, Cheyenne Symphony, and Boulder Philharmonic, and has served as concertmaster for the Boulder Symphony, Symphony of the Rockies, and Longmont Symphony.
As an educator, Daniel currently serves as a teaching assistant to Andrea Segar at CU Boulder, where he mentors undergraduate violinists. He also serves as a teaching artist at El Sistema Colorado, teaching private lessons to schoolchildren from underserved communities. Before moving to Colorado, Daniel served as an adjunct graduate instructor of violin at NYU for two years, where he taught a studio of undergraduate non-majors, and has also worked with public schools in the Roaring Fork Valley.
As a chamber musician, Daniel has performed at venues including Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio and The Cell Theater in NYC. His mentors include members of the Horszowski Trio, Cassatt Quartet, and Daedalus Quartet, as well as Clancy Newman and Jo-Ann Sternberg–many of whom he has also performed with. Daniel’s summer festival appearances include the Brevard Music Center, the Maine Chamber Music Seminar, Kinhaven's Young Artists Seminar, and Aspen Music Festival and School.
Daniel is a graduate of Williams College (BA) and New York University (MM), and his principal mentors include Gregory Fulkerson and Naoko Tanaka. He is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at CU Boulder with Andrea Segar.
